The English and Tamil choir at our church brings together the vibrant voices of our diverse congregation, uniting in song to praise and worship. With the blessings of St. Cecilia, the patron saint of music and singers, the choir inspires a spirit of harmony and devotion in every service. Guided by her heavenly intercession, the choir continues to enrich our spiritual journey through the beauty of sacred music. Many churches which use a contemporary worship format use a small amplified band to accompany the singing, and Roman Catholic Churches may use, at their discretion, additional orchestral accompaniment. Beside leading the singing of the congregation participates such as hymns and service music, choirs still sing the full proper at a few churches, chiefly those of the Anglican or Roman Catholic To facilitate and give a new breath to our parishioners the Tamil choir was started in year 2000. It was a humble beginning by us. Mr Mohan was leading the choir for six years with a group of five members after which Mr Anto led the choir for four years. A new keyboard was purchased two decades back. In praise of our Sahaya Madha a beautiful song “ENGALSAGAYATHAAYAE” written and composed by Anto who was leading the Tamil choir, was released by Rev.Fr. Alexis Manohar. This song was sung on every 24h which was specially dedicated to SAHAYA MADHA. Mr Bright who was so much dedicated in music then took over the choir for 12 years, since then. He used to write and compose music of his own. Choir started to grow with more members of more than ten. Later Mr Francis Praveen Kishore, made an entry in year 2022 with the English choir who later moved to the Tamil choir. Now he is leading the Tamil Choir with around 12 members- Abitha, Benita Annie, Brindha, Fiona Jeslyn, Jency Yashini, Jenifer. Madumitha, Neethu Veronika, Priscilla, Tracy, Vincy Rubini and Celine Dona. As years passed by our parish had people from diverse states and backgrounds. Therein the English choir came into existence. We had the English mass on every Wednesday’s wherein sisters were singing, but later a proper English choir was formed in Jan 13th, 2008 and the mass was on Sunday’s at 6:30 AM. Fr. Tony was used to teach the songs. Mrs Ramya Brijesh was leading the choir for two years with a groupof six members after which Mrs Sherline took in-charge of the choir for six years. We had male and female voices fo the choir, and the choir grew with eight members. Later on Mrs Ramya Celine led the choir for 3 years and after that Mr Francis Praveen Kishore led for two years. Now Mrs Ramya Celine is leading the English Choir and supported by Guitarist Mr Selva Durai. We now have six members Marcia, Riya, Pauline, Selvadurai, Br. Paul and Ramya Celine.
