Women’s Day Get-Together ‘2026

During the International Women’s Day 2026, the Guest Speaker Dr. M. Shiamala Baby talked on the  evolution  of Women’ s Day and pointed out that it all  started when around 15000 working women gathered on the streets of New York on March 8 1908. They raised  slogans for equal and fare wages, reduced working hours from 12 hours, clean and hygienic working place and  for voting rights. This revolution took various forms all over the Western world under the leadership of many committed and veteran women like Clara Zetkin,Rosa Luxemberg, Elizabeth Cady and more.As a result of their continuous struggles in various countries of Europe,

in 1975 United Nations recognised the need to declare a day as Women’s Day.  In 1977 UN officially declared March 8th as International Women’s Day to recognise women’s equal status, human dignity and appreciate their valuable contribution to the society, Nation and family . The theme given for

 2026 is “Give to Gain .”
