Maundy comes from Latin – mandatum “commandment.” Refers to Jesus’ new commandment: “Love one another as I have loved you” John 13:34.
Jesus told the apostles to “do this in memory of me,” establishing the ministerial priesthood.
The Holy Mass was presided by Fr C Paulraj around 6:00 PM, after which we had the washing of the feet during the mass and later the transfer of The Blessed Sacrament and the main altar was stripped bare. People stayed for the adoration recalling the pain and agony of Jesus.
